The HDP has released a research paper on the situation of 1154 ill prisoners in Turkish jails.
Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Siirt deputy Meral Danış Beştaş brought the situation of ill prisoners facing a serious risk of death to the Parliament agenda.
Beştaş presented a research paper containing proposals to the Presidency of the Parliament to evaluate the necessary precautions to be taken in order to ensure that prisoners receive proper medical treatment and their rights be respected.
Beştaş noted that the government was far from solving the problem and confirmed that 1154 ill prisoners continue to be in jail under heavy condition.
The HDP deputy also pointed out that a large number of ill prisoners were not given the correct medical treatment and when transferred to hospital they were kept in high security vehicles all day, and this – she said – amounted to torture.
