The Martyr Hecî Commune in Hilêliyê neighbourhood of Rojava’s Qamishlo city has introduced a Kurdish language learning cycle, which is being attended by 90 participants. The cycle kicked off two months ago and is joined by altogether 50 children and 40 women.
The teaching cycle customized for kids is visited by 50 children from 7-12 years old and starts at 07:30 am continuing until 08:30. The classes for the women begin at 08:30 and end at 09:30. The participating women are between 18 and 50 years old.
Mother Saliha Cemil, who is attending the learning cycle expressed her contentedness and stated that she is now finally learning her mother tongue, which she was deprived of for so many years.
Mother Helin Osman said about the classes that today they have been given the opportunity to learn their mother language in their own commune.
8 years old Nucan Hesen also expressed her excitement about the language lessons.
It is expected that the cycle will end in the next few days. The end of the cycle will be celebrated and the students will be given their certificates.
